JERMAINE DEFOE RESCUES PORTSMOUTH
Chelsea found their title chase being hit with a stiff barrier again in Pompey and they found their match drawn 1-1 in the Barclays Premier League Yesterday. The Blues first took the lead just after halftime as Anelka scored a splendid goal on the break in a move that involved the two coles Joe and Ashley and was finished off cooly by Anelka for his first goal with Chelsea. The two new signings Milan Baros flicked the ball to Jermaine Defoe and slotted the ball home.It was a fitting result as Portsmouth could have emerged victorious even if they had a little bit of luck going their way.The game was scoreless at half-time although Michael Ballack had an effort cleared off the line while Noe Pamarot saw a header crash off the crossbar.
