Michael Essien believes Chelsea can still win the quadruple this season.

Avram Grant's side are currently eight points adrift of Arsenal in the title race, but have a League Cup final to look forward to along with competing for the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

Then Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho targeted the quadruple last season and ended up with the FA Cup and League Cup, before surprisingly exiting Stamford Bridge earlier this term.

Essien, who is back at Chelsea following the Africa Cup of Nations, believes the current squad has the character to go for glory on every front.

"We've got the character to win the quadruple," he told The Sun.

"This could still be a really big season for us. We're still in all four competitions and we will do everything to win as many of them as we can.

"Winning all four trophies is a possibility."
