Italy advanced to the quarter finals of the Euro 2008 with a 2-0 win over 10-man France. Andrea Pirlo put Italy in front with a penalty after Eric Abidal was sent off for a foul on Luca Toni. Daniele De Rossi doubled the lead in the 2nd half. Elsewhere, Netherlands beat Romania 2-0 and ended their hopes of making it the last eight. Netherlands topped group C with three wins. They may face either Russia or Sweden in the quarter finals, while Italy will face Spain.
